Poemas diários

Feb 20th - Travel from La Paz to Potosi (Bolivia)
Last night we decided that a day on our own
is not something that we should bemoan
Breakfast together then I left to go
to see the ruins in Tihuanaco
First one errand before I could go kick it
find the bus station and buy us our ticket
After mission accomplished I went to the Cemetario
which is another bus station in a completely different barrio
I felt I was being scammed right from the start
to get the price reasonable I'd have to be smart
Then they told me it was 2 hours to get there
We had our bus at 8, chance to miss it, I didn't dare
Had to pee, not a public bathroom around
About to explode, behind a truck, watered the ground
Tried to find the bus to take me where I belonged
If this was a game show, I would have been gonged
For all my mistakes, what a Bolivia amateur
I made it back showing again that my luck is pure
Sitting in a café celebrating my mobility
They fired up a circular saw, robbing my tranquility
I fled from the construction like a prairie dog from a hawk
To internet café, it compelled me to walk
Megan was sitting there to my surprise
it was good to see her and her beautiful eyes
We ate an early dinner chili is what we had
It was damn good chili, but nothing against yours, Dad
Megan needed a book, all over town we would glean
A 3 hour hunt and not one readable was seen
On time at the bus station where Megan was brave
She paid for the bathroom, slipping into the cave
JB you'd love it, germs ubiquitous
After Bolivia, to share a bottle, even you wouldn't fuss
Again, kids our neighbors but these were so cute
Those words were Megan's that I would not refute
Together 3 weeks now, some lessons I've learned
One is to keep mouth shut or risk being burned
10 hours on bus waking tired and dishevelled
No restfulness in Potosi, this town is bedeviled
Feb 21 -  Potosi (Bolivia)
When you arrive; at half passed five
With no recourse; even if perforce
To region unknown; your circumstances sown
Doubts in your mind seep; of what good you could reap
In this situation; Then the revelation!
Doughnuts and coffee; just weren't meant to be
Nothing open; like we were hoping
Hang out in main square; like bums without a care
The problem was the cold; Bum act soon old
Ran around to get heart pumping; ineffective my in place jumping
Restaurant light; signals end of our plight
He lights kerosene lamps; no longer cold tramps
We chose the dish Swiss; ate it in delish bliss
Owner with lots to say; yes he was a extremely gay
Not in that sense Jamer; you know you're my only flamer
Megan laid for siesta; just then started town fiesta
Horns blaring; kids preparing
Balloons for war; through air they tore
With untrained eye; I could only try
To think not vicious; or even malicious
They'd surround and hurl; water balloons at some poor girl
One girl's ire shown; when she retaliated with a stone
Scowls and frowns; unleash the hounds!
With adolescent impetuous; this would turn out a mess
This situation my habit; it to flee like a rabbit
The hounds were distracted; this hare not impacted
I retreat; belly replete
with hunger pangs; on door loud bangs
Megan did not wake; open the door for Christs sake!
Had to pound a bunch; finally she got up and we went to lunch
Now the story gets hairy; at the restaurant with name Cherry
I found a long black one; after the 1st bite into my burger bun
What seemed to me a feast; didn't matter appetite surceased
Okay, bedeviled may be strong; in my mind not completely wrong
Before I write another line; let me punch fast forward in time
At dinner table we sit; I swear I could have shit
When Megan pulled out a hair all ratty; from her charbroiled burger patty
No, it's not you I'm trying to dupe; I swear then she found one in her soup!
Potosi must mean 'hair in food'; that's why they just don't find it rude
These devils gobble black hairs down; get me out of this molting town!
